The Solution Architecture and Design Practice contains a number of teams of Solution Architects and Designers working across all functional areas of TalkTalk.
The team for this specific role specialises in designing solutions for the wholesale division of TalkTalk using the Salesforce cloud platform. The product set includes broadband as well as high-speed Ethernet and corporate network solutions. The solutions designed by the team cover the full product lifecycle from order fulfillment to service management
As a Solution Architect you'll define solutions for our business initiatives which deliver on our company objectives.
You'll lead the development of solution architecture, typically specialising in specific architectural domains whilst maintaining an end to end view of the overall solution.
You'll also own the solution vision which defines the strategy of how we will deliver (“transition states”) and informs the overall roadmap.
How will I add value in this role?
Lead the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas
Within a change programme, lead the preparation of technical plans
Provide advice on technical aspects of solution development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) are applied correctly.
Design large or complex systems
Adopt and adapt appropriate systems design methods, tools and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches, and ensure they are applied effectively
Undertake impact analysis on major design options and trade-off
Make recommendations and assess and manage associated risks
Review others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology
Ensure that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements
Contribute to development of systems design policies and standards and selection of architecture components.
Identify the communications and relationship needs of stakeholder groups
Facilitate open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a single point of contact by developing, maintaining and working to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans
Facilitate business decision-making processes.
Actively maintain recognised expert level knowledge in one or more identifiable specialisms
Provide definitive and expert advice in their specialist area(s)
Oversee the provision of specialist advice by others, consolidate expertise from multiple sources, including third party experts, to provide coherent advice to further organisational objectives
Support and promote the development and sharing of specialist knowledge within the organisation.
What do I need in order to be successful?
To be successful in this role you should have experience of carrying out the Solution Architect responsibilities defined above in at least one large project from inception to completion.
The following skills and experiences would be beneficial but not essential for the right candidate:
Knowledge of telecoms products and system architecture
Experience with Salesforce Industries for Telecommunications (ie Vlocity), Salesforce Service Cloud, Sales Cloud and Communities.
