Senior Field Engineer (S2)
As a Senior Field Engineer (SFE), you will assist a Regional Field Manager to design, install, commission and maintain the multi vendor equipment deployed in the various TTG Networks. You will also be accountable for the following.
- Projects are completed in timely manner and within agreed budget/cost codes
- Accurate monthly KPI, for reporting to HOD
- Correct approval of timesheets, to meet external Audit standard
- To identify training gaps within given team
You will be a point of escalation for the Field Engineers under their supervision for all Technical issues and will assist in training where necessary and the day to day welfare of their team. The SFE is the primary contact for all Network incidents within their geographical area of responsibility. You have access rights and process knowledge to gain entry to BT exchange buildings 24/7. You will be vendor specific trained and authorised to install, commission and maintain Network elements to a high standard. You will also be responsible through a scheduled maintenance program to identify potential issues and offer a solution to the FDL team.
About the Role:
- Provides technical expertise in the management of a public and/or private network such as Internet protocol
- (IP) networks, wide area networks (WANs), and public switched telephone networks
- Plans, designs, installs, maintains, monitors, Analyses, troubleshoots, modifies and supports network
- communications systems to provide maximum performance and availability
- Plans, designs, implements and supports local and wide area networks (LANs/WANs) in the areas of
- Internet connectivity, capacity planning, routing, switching, server load balancing, network security, and
- wireless
- Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities
About you
In order to perform in this role, you will have leadership skills, H&S / Risk Assessment experience and understanding of ISO 9001, 18001, 50001, 27001. You will have a knowledge of SDH & DWDM Networks, the Access Network platform, knowledge of DC power & rectifiers and fibre splicing.
