Presales Engineer

The role

In this new and exciting role of Presales Engineer, you’ll be the primary presales technical interface between customers and the TalkTalk Business Wholesale organisation for new Manged Security & SD-WAN services, where you’ll spend time understanding the customer requirements and collating them into design documentation to allow for seamless delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Utilising your effective interpersonal skills and exhibiting a strong technical knowledge of Fortinet SD-WAN systems and architecture, you’ll be accountable for the solution sold being fit for purpose, functionally correct to the customer’s needs, and well understood by the wider business.

The team

Your Presales Engineer role (known as SD-WAN Consultant internally) is part of the TalkTalk Business Wholesale Presales Team, which acts as the design authority on all customer solutions and as a trusted advisor to our Wholesale partners.

The Presale Team provides expertise across all the Wholesale products, acting as consultants during the sales process and as educators to both TalkTalk staff and to our partners, with you bringing the Fortinet SD-WAN specialism and a high level of engagement to each opportunity.

Your responsibilities

  • You’ll create comprehensive, customer-facing, contractual design and statement of work documents that will be used by the Project Management, Delivery and Support teams throughout the lifecycle of the customer solution.

  • As part of post-sales Customer Information gathering, you’ll consult and assist with the completing of low-level configuration documents.

  • You’ll audit the firewall rule base and compare against customer intent and business justification, ahead of configuring with the least access.

  • Identifying all security appliances in scope and document, you’ll create a list of applications in use and confirm their relative importance to the customer and the application host location.

  • You’ll create an application priority map which lists the primary and secondary network paths in the event of an SLA breach or circuit failure if applicable.

  • Through investigation, you’ll confirm antivirus protection requirements for all inbound and outbound data, such as web and mail.

  • You’ll verify web filtering policies, remote access requirements, the network resource access requirements of all workgroups and UTM service requirements.
