Infrastructure Solution Designer
Infrastructure Solution Designer
The role
As an Infrastructure Solution Designer here at TalkTalk, you’ll assess, review, and analyse complex issues or technical requirements and use that information to create appropriate, efficient, sensible, and cost-effective solutions.
Articulating the concept of any design solution to different areas of the Business, and adjusting the level of technical reference accordingly, you’ll complete design documentation within appropriate and efficient timescales, which adhere to pre-defined standards, whilst working independently and as part of a team, effectively multi-tasking, having good attention to detail, and challenging when needed.
The team
The Infrastructure Solution Design Team works with operational and project teams to provide detailed designs and guidance on various aspects of infrastructure solutions and is responsible for producing high-level conceptual and low-level designs, whilst providing guidance and support for transition, transformation, and delivery on a variety of initiatives.
Infrastructure Solution Designers apply functional knowledge and technical expertise to design systems which align with the TalkTalk strategic vision and balance pragmatism with sensible technology decisions to create designs that underpin TalkTalk’s critical systems.
Your responsibilities
As part of infrastructure and platform design, you’ll analyse both simple and complex solution requirements, and review and create design documents as a subject matter expert for infrastructure solutions, whilst adhering to existing design standards and creating/defining new ones when required.
You’ll deliver time-critical work via individual prioritisation techniques, working on both single-asset designs and multi-year, multi-site, multi-platform solutions, and approach solutions in a logical, sensible, and pragmatic way - then present clearly and concisely.
Considering the impact of designs from an infrastructure deployment and operational support perspective, you’ll design, document, discuss, and drive solutions forward in a proactive manner.
You’ll collaborate with a variety of Teams across the Business – from Security and Enterprise Architects, Solution Designers, platform and system owners, application specialists, infrastructure engineers, and network specialists – to Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Service Transition Managers
Collaborating with the Team during weekly Technical Whiteboard Sessions and governance meetings, you’ll articulate design concepts through written and verbal forms and promote the Team and instigate internal discussion points.
You’ll assist in the progression of enterprise and business architecture strategies, whilst recognising requirements and driving forward improvements, ensuring solutions are both appropriate and cost-effective.
