Finance Systems Analyst - Fixed Term Contract

Location: Salford Quays, M5 3TT (Hybrid working)

Contract Type: Full Time


As Finance Systems Analyst you will take a lead in operating, enhancing and supporting our Financial Systems and associated reporting. This is a technical specialist role responsible for operation, support, maintenance, enhancement and testing for a number of current & future business application systems. The post holder will be responsible for developing and leading industry best practices across specialist tools supporting accountants and non-finance users in their day-to-day operation of finance systems.

About the day-to-day

You will be developing internal and external stakeholder relationships to drive our Finance System improvement agenda. You will be involved in a range of activities in relation to Finance Systems, including:

  • Innovation and looking to external ways of working to improve the performance, effectiveness and efficiency of our Finance Systems and optimise processes, including but not limited to, Dynamics AX, Hyperion, Precision Point, providing first level support to users for the following ERP modules: General Ledger, Cash Management, Fixed Asset, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, and Accounts Payable.

  • Evaluate the commercial impact of system recommendations, and influence IT support functions and business users to implement robust solution designs

  • Resolve outages, and perform setup, configuration, maintenance and development requests of our existing Finance Systems.

  • Operate on-going processes, including monitoring data input quality, running month end system interfaces, refreshing associated reporting modules, and conducting month and year end system closure processes.

  • Evaluate, improve and operate complex SQL based models to produce accurate IFRS15 & commissions reporting, undertaking issue investigation and query management where necessary, and presenting clear outputs for reporting and decision making to users.

  • Analyse user needs, interpret requirements and create solutions to implement new systems and processes.

  • Assist with the upload of financial budgets and forecasts into Finance Systems.

  • Undertake key periodic system upgrades and development with third parties, designing system testing and supporting UAT on new and upgraded functionality

  • Undertake finance systems administrator and reconciliation tasks.

  • Assist with the Year-end audits.

  • Actively participate in projects as required.

What will make you successful in the role?

  • You will come from a Systems background, preferably working previously with Dynamics AX.

  • Experience and understanding of SQL based models and MS Power Tools.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to utilise vba to create and maintain macros.

  • Experienced as a system SME.

  • A proven ability to improve and automate process using tools such as Power Automate and Power Query.

  • Experience working with Sharepoint and Teams file management would also be an advantage.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Attention to detail with ‘completer-finisher’ and problem solver mentality

  • Ability to manage own workload including the prioritisation of tasks.

  • Experience supporting an accounting function, with a good understanding of transaction processing, finance & management reporting and consolidation.

  • Strong interest in technology and data and looking to combine your finance skills with technology.


  • SQL Skills.

  • Prior experience with systems implementation including, data migration, data validation & systems testing.

  • Comfortable working in an ever-evolving environment resulting in continual change.

  • Can-do attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
