Renowned for its focus on value, TalkTalk launches Mr. WiFFi ice cream van to help families scoop up savings during the school holidays by offering the cheapest 99 in the UK.

Salford, UK, 9th August 2023 – As Brits look to save money amid the cost of living squeeze, TalkTalk, the UK’s leading value connectivity provider, is slashing the price of the nation’s favourite summer treat, by offering the classic 99 ice cream for 99p.

Reclaiming the symbol of British summertime, TalkTalk is extending its value commitment to ice cream by giving the iconic Mr Whippy a wallet-friendly Wi-Fi inspired makeover. This Friday, the revamped Mr WiFFi ice cream van will be whipping up smiles in one of the UK’s most loved seaside towns, Bournemouth. From 11am on 11th August, at Horseshoe Common, holidaymakers and locals alike can bag themselves a tasty bargain.

In the 90s, a 99 ice cream famously used to cost 99p. It should cost around £2.27 today following the rise in inflation. However, in some parts of the UK, a 99 can cost as much as £5, showing just how much prices have risen over the past few decades.

All profits from the ice cream sales will go to Bournemouth Foodbank, a charity funded by The Trussell Trust. The Trussell Trust has also funded Salford Foodbank which TalkTalk supports.

Adam Dunlop, TalkTalk’s Managing Director of Consumer and Business, said: “As Brits continue to feel the cost-of-living squeeze, we’re aiming to make a sunshine treat more affordable. A family of five can pick up an ice cream from our Mr WiFFi van with change leftover from a fiver. We're always looking for ways to help our customers save, which is why our value packed Full Fibre packages include everything you need included as standard.”

TalkTalk’s value packed Full Fibre plans start from just £27 a month. Everything customers need is included as standard from totally unlimited data to a powerful router, along with 24/7 online support, plus free security features. Unlike some other connectivity providers TalkTalk does not charge extra for these essentials.
