TalkTalk today has announced that it has signed up its 500,000th TV customer, just 11 months after launching its YouView service.The milestone confirms its position as the UK¹s fastest growing TV service.

Three-quarters of customers are choosing to upgrade from Freeview and Freesat, and a quarter of customers have bought paid for content with family entertainment, movies and children¹s programmes proving most popular. Last week¹s most watched film in the TalkTalk Player was Jack the Giant Slayer.
TalkTalk launched its TV service at the end of September 2012, providing customers with a free YouView set top box worth £299 giving them the ability to pause, rewind and record plus seven-day catch-up at no extra charge. It also offers customers simple, flexible access to premium, on-demand content such as Sky Movies and all 5 Sky Sports channels on a month-by-month basis with no costly annual subscriptions.
Already this year, TalkTalk has widened its offering to include a broader range of specialist entertainment and ethnic content, including Star Plus, the UK's largest Asian channel, Japanese, South African and Arabic channels, meaning it now offers 23 foreign language channels. In the autumn TalkTalk plans to launch a value for money Essentials TV product with a smaller, lower-cost YouView box.
