Ofcom broadband speeds report

We're pleased that Ofcom's latest figures show our customers' average speeds are increasing. Our customers get information on the likely speed they will actually be able to receive in their postcode area before they join TalkTalk, so they know what they are signing up for.

We were the first ISP to provide customers with this information, a policy Ofcom subsequently made part of the code. We also provide our 4.2m customers with information, advice, and special 'speed kits' to help them optimise their connection and get the best broadband speed possible. That's why we're very happy to sign up to Ofcom's Broadband Speeds Code as a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to transparency about the speeds we offer.

We're able to offer reliable speeds to our customers because we have the largest unbundled network in the UK, covering 85% of the UK population. We've invested over £500m so far and we're continuing to invest in unbundling further exchanges this year too, allowing us to reach even more people.

However we think there is more Ofcom could be doing to improve the flow of information from BT Openreach about what speeds can technically be achieved on its network, as well as getting Openreach to improve the quality of the lines
