Nominees need your votes to win up to ￡10,000 of funding for local digital projects
TalkTalk has today revealed the shortlist of inspirational people, all in the running to win this year's TalkTalk Digital Heroes Awards. After receiving hundreds of entries from all over the the UK, nominees have be whittled down to just 28 little and local projects, and are now vying for votes.
TalkTalk is urging members of the public to show their support as the winner of each category will be decided by a public vote and win £5,000 of funding. The nominees then stand to win a further £5,000 of funding if they are chosen by the judging panel as the overall winner and crowned, TalkTalk Digital Hero 2014.
To support and vote for projects visit the Digital Heroes website. The winners of each category will be invited to a ceremony at the House of Commons, where the overall winner will be announced.
The TalkTalk Digital Heroes Awards sit at the heart of the TalkTalk Digital Heroes Foundation and are part of a wider initiative to help make communities better off through being online. To date, funding to the tune of nearly £500,000 has been provided to 78 projects across Britain.

The TalkTalk Digital Heroes Awards are run in partnership with the charities Citizens Online and Go ON UK, which aims to make the UK the world's most digitally skilled nation. Baroness Martha Lane Fox, who sits on the judging panel, added: “Digital skills are a hugely important part of modern life, and it’s crucial that everyone in the UK has the opportunity to take advantage of their benefits. This year’s finalists have done great work using digital for good, and I urge everyone to get involved and vote.”
