  • With the Great Scottish Run just around the corner, the event’s connectivity partner, TalkTalk, is helping local runners get race ready with the help of Dev Griffin

Great Scottish Run’s official connectivity partner and sponsor, TalkTalk, is aiming to help runners mentally and physically prepare for the big day, by teaming up with two-time marathon runner and broadcaster and DJ, Dev Griffin.

Dev, who is a keen runner, documented his first marathon on podcast “Running the Show”, alongside Sam Thompson in 2018. Dev went on to take the 26.2 mile run for the second time with Fia Tarrant last year for Heart's charity, Global's Make Some Noise, having previously run for mental health charity Heads Together.

As the Great Scottish Run is fast approaching, Dev, in partnership with TalkTalk, shares his top five tips on how to get race ready ahead of the run:

Broadcaster and DJ, Dev Griffin said:

  1. Warm up – Warm up before you get started! With the excitement of the day, it’s easy to forget to stretch and limber up, and trust me, you don’t want to get a cramp or a stitch.
  2. Be prepared – Make sure you have plenty of water and load yourself with carbs the night before, this has really helped get me through my runs.
  3. Choose your outfit wisely – Wear something bright if you have people coming to watch you run! It doesn’t have to be fancy dress, but this will help you stand out amongst all the other runners.
  4. Keep a steady pace – It’s easy to get excited and run quicker than you usually would on race day. Find a TalkTalk pacer running at your goal speed and they’ll make sure you don’t tire yourself out too early.
  5. Soak it all in – The race day will go by fast, so make sure you pause and take a moment to be proud of yourself and enjoy having the crowd there cheering you on.

TalkTalk will also be providing the post-run celebrations by offering a range of free activities at the Finisher Village. From podium posing to face painting, as well as pick ‘n’ mix and prizes from the spin to win, there is something for all the family.

Not only will TalkTalk be bringing the post-run celebrations, but the connectivity provider will be with runners on route as its seasoned pacers will be keeping people going, every step of the way.

Spectators haven’t been overlooked – the team will be handing out free banners at its Cheer Zone. Here, supporters can swing by and add their customised message on the banners to give their loved ones an additional boost on the run.

Becki Smith, General Manager of Full Fibre at TalkTalk, said: “We’re excited to be sponsoring this year’s Great Scottish Run and look forward to cheering all the runners on. The sponsorship coincides with our rollout of Full Fibre across the Glasgow which offers residents the UK’s fastest, most reliable broadband technology at great TalkTalk value.”

The sponsorship of the Great Scottish Run comes as TalkTalk continues its rollout of Full Fibre and Amazon eero packages in the area, with top average download speeds of 944Mb/s.
