‘Gobblebox’ sees real life turkeys rate festive films and Christmas specials
TalkTalk is helping viewers across the country enjoy the best of Christmas telly with a brand new TV review show called ‘Gobblebox’.
The TV, broadband, phone and mobile provider has enlisted a cast of ten charismatic Black Norfolk turkeys to give the British public a bird’s eye view of what’s hot and what’s not this festive season.
Emulating the stars of hit show Gogglebox - including Steph and Dom, Sandy and Sandra, Leon and June, Chris and Stephen and the Michaels Family - the feathered reviewers have unleashed their sharp beaks on a range of Christmas specials including Downton Abbey, Dr. Who and EastEnders, as well as seasonal film favourites such as Frozen, Home Alone and Elf. Each and every show the birds watch will be given a rating from TV Turkey to Christmas cracker.
The festive fowl have been observed by ‘Turkey Whisperer’ and Consultant Editor of Practical Poultry, Fred Hams, who predicts that some scenes may get the turkeys in a flap.
Hams comments: “Turkeys are actually quite expressive creatures and don’t hold back on letting you know how they feel. I think they’ll enjoy the entertaining lights and sounds of shows like Strictly Come Dancing, and the hijinks of the likes of Mrs Browns Boys and the last two ever episodes of Miranda. They may however be disturbed if Mrs Patmore has to carve a turkey in the Downton Christmas special.”
Gobblebox has been created to mark TalkTalk TV’s stellar line-up this Christmas which, in addition to the popular TV favourites, offers a huge selection of this year’s biggest blockbusters including Guardians of the Galaxy, 22 Jump Street and The Inbetweeners 2 on TalkTalk Box Office, and hundreds of movies, including Muppets: Most Wanted, The Lego Movie and the Amazing Spider-Man 2 with the add-on Sky Movies package.
Tristia Harrison from TalkTalk said, “Christmas is unquestionably the best time of year for TV and we want to help families enjoy more of what they love. As well as providing the ultimate TV guide with the help of our feathered friends, we’ve packed our TV service full of brilliant shows and movies; you can pause, rewind and record, meaning you never miss a moment; and you can treat the family to extra channels just for the festive season. It’s TV with all the trimmings without the price tag.”
“Puns aside, there is no animal more closely linked to Christmas than turkeys, so it was an obvious choice to cast them as our TV reviewers and hopefully it will be a fun way for people to get into the Christmas spirit.”
YouView from TalkTalk is Britain's fastest growing TV service and offers viewers the ability to add extra sports, movies or kids channels, or 'Boosts' for a month at a time, with no on-going commitment. TalkTalk homes can now also make massive savings as the Sky Movies and Sky Sports Boosts are both at half price for three months.
